Study Team and Oversight

Scientific Advisory Board

The study is monitored by an independent Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), which oversees the progress of the study, reviews manuscripts before submission, provides guidance to the study team, and attends annual review meetings of the study team. The SAB provides an annual, independent review of progress to the Director of IARC and to the Director of SRIOH, and the report is also provided to the IARC Ethics Committee.

The members of the SAB are:

  • Professor Franco Merletti, University of Turin, Italy (Chair)
  • Professor Mads Melbye, Statens Serum Institut, Denmark (until May 2017*)
  • Professor Julian Peto, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom
  • Professor Martin Röösli, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, Switzerland (from July 2017)
  • Dr Antti Tossavainen, Retired from Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, Finland

Each SAB member has completed a Declaration of Interests form and has agreed to the SAB Terms of Reference. Declarations of interest are updated on an annual basis.

* In May 2017 Professor Mads Melbye was elected to chair the IARC Governing Council.
